The present volume concentrates on the study of the command of the Shari’ah (al-hukum-al- Shar’i). The present work consciously deviates from the tradition of writing and addresses itself to a different task to introduce the reader to the rich world of traditional Islamic jurisprudence on its own terms. The aim of the present work is to enable the reader to view Islamic jurisprudence from within. This lends the present work a flavour of its own.
